Dr. Hoch has over 25 years of experience in Anatomic Pathology with fellowship training in surgical pathology, bone and soft tissue pathology and ENT pathology. Most of his career has been in academic pathology practicing general and subspecialty surgical pathology, performing research, supervising pathology residents and fellows, and teaching medical students. He has served central Iowa in community practice with clinical responsibilities in general surgical pathology, dermatopathology and cytology, while also providing expertise in subspecialty areas including bone and soft tissue, ENT and pulmonary pathology. In addition to clinical activities, he has held several leadership positions in Pathology departments and laboratories including medical director, fellowship director, residency director and director of anatomic pathology.His work in these positions has resulted in a track record of accomplishing major laboratory projects including implementing new diagnostic testing, multidisciplinary patient centered quality improvement projects, and integrating new laboratories into existing health systems, among others. Dr. Hoch uses diagnostic modalities to improve patient care and constantly works towards maintaining and improving diagnostic accuracy, high quality pathology services and laboratory excellence.
